Traveling Trunk

The Traveling Trunk program is an educational outreach project, co-sponsored by The Price County Historical Society and the Price County Veterans Service.

The Goal of the project is to have a W.W.II footlocker, filled with military paraphernalia from each branch of service: from the Civil War to present time period.

The footlocker, accompanied by local Veterans armed with lesson plans, will travel to your school, classroom, library, etc. In some cases, hands on presentation will be used.

The presentation will show students and others what the soldier was issued, such as uniforms, gas masks, canteens and other equipment. Explanations of insignia's, medals and ribbons will be included. The presentation will also show the relationship (Training and Equipment) between past and present veterans. Time of the presentation will be tailored to your needs.

Contact person for the Price County Historical Society is: John Weindorfer: 715-762-3501, or contact the Price County Veterans Service: 715-339-2545.

We will have many trunks to fill and have a need for many donated military items. If you would like to donate items to the Traveling Trunk Program, please use the telephone numbers provided above.

Have Museum, Will Travel

The Price County Historical Society has a program that takes artifacts from the 1890s to the early 1900s to the classroom. It is a hands on type of presentation, tailored to students from fourth grade on up. The program blends in the best if presented during or after classes on local or Wisconsin history. The person giving the presentation will wear period clothes from the 1890's to the early 1900's. Using artifacts such as dishes, clothes, pictures, tools, and other everyday items. The presentation will show what the artifacts are and how they were used during that time period. The presenter will tailor the time of the presentation to the teachers needs.

Our presenter will need a mileage fee if outside of Price County.

Our other outreach program takes the classroom or classrooms through the museum. The format is the same as Have Museum, Will Travel. Except that our tour guide's will take the students through the museum on a private tour. Most private school tours are in late August and all of September. Maybe early October if we have warm weather. Our museum is not heated. The museum open's for the season in late May.
